It is rumored that Cook will step down as Apple's CEO next year
The Financial Times reported that Apple's (AAPL.US) board and executives are intensifying their succession planning in preparation for CEO Tim Cook's potential departure as early as next year.
It is reported that Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, is considered a strong candidate for the next CEO; however, it is unlikely that Apple will announce the appointment before releasing its next quarterly results at the end of January
