On Monday, Tesla, the second highest traded stock on the US market, closed up 1.13%, with a trading volume of $42.062 billion. According to reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticized Samsung and TSMC for being &#34;too slow&#34; and plans to build a chip factory for Tesla. Musk intends to establish an independent chip supply system for Tesla, stating that the progress of current suppliers is &#34;too slow.&#34; He estimates that Tesla will need between 100 million to 200 billion AI chips annually, while TSMC and Samsung's expansion plans will take five years, and Musk hopes to complete it within one to two years.
It is estimated that the number of AI chips required by Tesla each year will reach an astonishing &#34;100 million to 200 billion,&#34; directly pointing out that TSMC and Samsung, among other foundries, cannot meet such enormous demand.
Musk stated, &#34;The current production speed is clearly not fast enough. When I asked them how long it would take to build a new wafer factory from groundbreaking to production, they replied that it would take five years. To me, five years is equivalent to an eternity.&#34;
Last week, Ron Baron, CEO of Baron Capital, stated that he would &#34;never sell&#34; his personally held Tesla shares, claiming that he has made about $8 billion from Tesla over the years and believes that this figure could quintuple in the next decade.
NVIDIA, ranked fourth, closed down 1.88%, with a trading volume of $32.32 billion. NVIDIA will announce its earnings report after the market closes on Wednesday. Prior to this, the latest 13F filing released by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) showed that Peter Thiel's fund, Thiel Macro Fund, sold approximately 537,000 shares of NVIDIA stock in the third quarter, accounting for nearly 40% of its portfolio. As of September 30, the fund no longer held shares of NVIDIA.
Based on NVIDIA's average stock price in the third quarter, the fund's cash-out from this reduction is approximately $100 million. While reducing its holdings in NVIDIA, the fund also sold 207,600 shares of Tesla stock, with a reduction ratio as high as 76%. At the same time, the fund purchased 79,000 shares of Apple stock and 49,000 shares of Microsoft stock in the third quarter.
Previously, SoftBank had completely liquidated its NVIDIA holdings, and hedge fund Bridgewater also significantly reduced its shares in NVIDIA.
Alphabet's Class A shares, ranked fifth, closed up 3.11%, with a trading volume of $15.144 billion. Reports indicate that Berkshire Hathaway has increased its holdings in the company, which not only recognizes the tech giant's AI business but is also one of the major investments completed by the Berkshire group under Warren Buffett's leadership.
In the third quarter of this year, Berkshire purchased 17.85 million shares of Alphabet stock, valued at approximately $4.93 billion. This move also marks a rare bet by Berkshire on tech stocks—Buffett has long stated that he avoids companies he cannot understand or predict, and tech companies have often fallen into this category. However, this billionaire investor has always viewed Apple, the largest holding in Berkshire's portfolio, as a consumer goods company.
Apple, ranked eighth, closed down 1.82%, with a trading volume of $12.053 billion. Reports suggest that Apple may announce CEO Tim Cook's retirement as early as the beginning of next year, with a new CEO taking over. Several observers believe this is Apple testing the market's reaction
