PLATTS: 100--Mich. coal plant to continue operations through winter after latest DOE order

The U.S. Department of Energy has issued a third emergency order to keep Michigan's J.H. Campbell coal plant operational through winter, citing low energy reserves. The plant, initially set to close, will remain open to ensure stability in the Midcontinent ISO region. The decision, challenged by environmental groups, follows a national energy emergency declaration. CMS Energy incurred $80 million in costs during previous emergency periods and plans to seek cost recovery from MISO ratepayers.
