In the first nine months, JINCHUAN INTL's copper production decreased by 6.7% year-on-year
Jinchuan International (02362.HK) announced that for the nine months ending September this year, the group's mining operations produced 44,024 tons of copper, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 6.7%. This decrease was due to the unstable power supply from the national grid of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the Ruashi mine, which led to a temporary suspension of the solvent extraction-electrolytic refining system (SX-EW system) in January this year. As a result, the output of electrolytic copper fell, while the group produced more copper concentrate with higher copper content using the flotation plant, thereby maintaining the overall production level. To address the power supply issue, the group has actively installed additional diesel generators, and the SX-EW system resumed operation in mid-May this year.
Due to the temporary suspension of the SX-EW system, the group produced 71 tons of cobalt during the period, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 90.3%.
The group's mining operations sold 41,971 tons of copper, a slight increase of 1.5% year-on-year.
Due to the low cobalt production and the implementation of an export ban since February this year, the group did not sell any cobalt during the period, compared to 1,318 tons sold in the same period last year.
The company's shares have been suspended from trading on the Stock Exchange since 9:00 AM on March 28 this year and will continue to be suspended until further notice
