K-drama casting news about Yuna of K-pop group Itzy, Yoo Yeon-seok, Jung So-min and more

Another major K-pop name begins to build her K-drama résumé in this week’s Korean casting news, which includes a romantic drama, an office romcom, a supernatural legal show and an action-packed casino-set series.\n1. My Favorite Employee\nYuna of the girl group Itzy has booked her second major drama role in the upcoming series My Favorite Employee. She will be joining series leads Kang Hoon (A Time Called You), Kim Hye-jun (A Shop for Killers) and Cha Woo-min (Melo Movie).\nThe series, which is based on a webtoon, will follow several characters working at a company launched by a former K-pop idol.\n\nKim will appear as Nam Da-reum, a major fan of idol Lee Chan (played by Cha), who begins working at his company. Kang stars as her talented boss Kang Ha-gi, and the story will focus on the romance that develops between them.\nYuna will appear as a top actress. Before this, she will make her acting debut with a supporting role in Undercover Miss Hong with Park Shin-hye, due out in January.\nThe 12-episode My Favorite Employee will be directed by Park Ji-hyun (Class of Lies) and is due out on tvN at some point next year.\n2. Shin Yi-rang’s Law Firm\nYoo Yeon-seok (Hospital Playlist) and Esom (Taxi Driver) have been confirmed as the leads of a new legal drama called Shin Yi-rang’s Law Firm for broadcaster SBS.\n\nYoo has been tapped to play the titular Shin Yi-rang, a lawyer who opens a new firm in a building that was once home to a shaman. No sooner does he begin his practice than he starts seeing ghosts.\nDespite his debonair appearance, Yi-rang is a shy lawyer, but he rises to the challenges posed by his new ghost clients, which include being possessed by their personalities.\nJoining him on his unusual legal journey is Han Na-hyun (Esom), an ace lawyer at a top law firm who experiences an unexpected legal loss thanks to Yi-rang. Despite this rocky start, the two join forces.\n\nIn 2025, Yoo made special appearances in Tastefully Yours and Park Chan-wook’s acclaimed film No Other Choice, while Esom starred in LTNS and the Netflix film Mantis.\n3. Dealer\nJung So-min (Alchemy of Souls) and Ryoo Seung-bum (Moving) are circling the casino-set drama Dealer, an upcoming Netflix production.\nJung is being eyed for the role of Jung Gun-hwa, a dealer at the Oceanland Casino who awakens dormant superpowers to save her upcoming wedding, only to find herself falling into a dangerous criminal underworld.\n\nRyoo has been offered the role of Hwang Chi-soo, who once had a family and a stable job, before squandering everything on the casino table. Now he works as a shill at Oceanland, the very establishment that cleaned him out.\nFor Jung, this role would mark a change after three well-received romcoms in a row: the film Love Reset, and the dramas Love Next Door and Would You Marry Me.\nRyoo is no stranger to casino stories, having headlined the film Tazza: One Eyed Jack. Recently, he appeared in the Netflix film Good News and the series Family Matters. He reportedly declined to reprise his role in a second season of the latter.\n4. Another Love, Not You\nRecently seen in Undercover High School, Seo Kang-joon will next appear in the show Another Love, Not You.\n\nIn this romantic drama that depicts the trials of long-term couples, Seo will play Namgoong Ho, an ordinary office worker whose partner of 10 years starts to cool towards him. Then he gets swept up in another emotional connection.\nThe series will follow four protagonists in similar circumstances, all of whom have been in relationships for over a decade, whose loves are tested when new people appear before them. For now, the other cast members have not been revealed.\nSeo took a three-year gap between Grid and Undercover High School to complete his military service. However, he will feature in a cameo role in next year’s Netflix series Boyfriend on Demand with Blackpink’s Jisoo and Seo In-guk.\n
