Short interest across S&P 500 real estate stocks increase in November
In November, average short interest in S&P 500 real estate stocks rose to 2.80% from 2.65%. Office REITs were the most shorted, while Industrial REITs were least shorted. Iron Mountain saw the largest increase in short bets. The Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund ETF gained 2.06%, outperforming the S&P 500's 0.04% loss. Short interest is a potential indicator of market pessimism.
