Suzhou Wujiang: The predicted number of births in 2025 is over 7,000
As 2025 is about to end, the Health Commission of Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, issued a document on December 12 interpreting the birth population data for the year. The article published on the Wujiang District government website points out that population development is the foundation of regional economic and social development, and the scale of the birth population is a key indicator for measuring regional vitality and future potential. The total number of births in Wujiang District has shown a generally declining trend over the past decade, peaking at 15,563 in 2016, and has since entered a continuous decline. The predicted number of births in 2025 is over 7,000, the lowest point in nearly a decade, representing a decline of more than 50% compared to 2016. "This trend indicates that dominant social factors suppressing the willingness to give birth far exceed the stimulating effects of birth policies." (The Paper)
