A Michigan judge in the United States prohibits the state from shutting down the Enbridge oil pipeline
The U.S. Federal Court stated that Michigan cannot issue state-level regulations intervening in Enbridge Energy's Line 5 oil and gas pipeline. The ruling prevents the state from enforcing its notice to revoke the state easement held by Enbridge's predecessor and prohibits forcing the company to cease operations. This ruling is a setback for Governor Gretchen Whitmer and her administration, which had previously ordered Enbridge to stop operations on the disputed section due to environmental threats
