TikTok and Oracle (ORCL.US) formed a joint venture in the U.S., with ByteDance retaining its e-commerce and advertising business in the U.S. Technology stocks opened slightly higher, with Alibaba-W (09988.HK) rising 0.8% in the half-day. JD.com-SW (09618.HK) fell slightly by 0.5%. Tencent (00700.HK), Meituan-W (03690.HK), and NetEase-S (09999.HK) rose between 1.2% and 2.3%, while Baidu-SW (09888.HK) and Kuaishou-W (01024.HK) each rose by 1% to 1.1%. Bilibili-W (09626.HK) rose 0.8% in the half-day. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong (01347.HK) rose 1.6% and 2%, respectively.
In the automotive sector, BYD (01211.HK) remained flat in the half-day, Li Auto-W (02015.HK) rose 2.5%, Xiaomi-W (01810.HK) slightly rose by 0.2%, and XPeng-W (09868.HK) rose 5.7%. Stocks related to automotive radar and chips performed well, with Horizon-W (09660.HK) rising 7.2%, Hesai-W (02525.HK), and SUTENG (02498.HK) rising between 3.2% and 3.9%.
In the financial sector, HSBC Holdings (00005.HK) reached a new historical high after net interest, rising to HKD 119.8 during the session, and closing up 0.8% at HKD 119.7. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) each rose about 0.9% in the half-day.
Nike (NKE.US) reported better-than-expected quarterly results but expects sales to decline this quarter, plummeting 10% in after-hours trading. Shenzhou (02313.HK) fell 3.9%, the largest decline among blue-chip stocks. Li Ning (02331.HK) fell 1%, and Anta (02020.HK) fell 0.5%.
WuXi Biologics (02269.HK) rose 6.5% in the half-day, the largest increase among blue-chip stocks; its affiliate WuXi AppTec (02359.HK) rose 2.7%. Nongfu Spring (09633.HK) and Hang Lung Properties (00101.HK) each rose over 3% in the half-day. Additionally, Changfei Optical Fiber (06869.HK) rose 11.1%
