The S&P 500 Index initially rose by 0.3%, reaching a record closing high in a light trading session, with the consumer staples, real estate, healthcare, and utilities sectors rising by up to 0.9%. The technology and telecommunications sectors increased by 0.1%, while the energy sector fell by more than 0.2%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index initially rose by 0.3%. Among its components, Micron Tech initially rose by 3.6%, Pinduoduo increased by 1.3%, Marvell Technology fell by 1.4%, and Datadog dropped by 2.3%.
Nike initially rose by 4.5%, while Merck, Disney, and Johnson & Johnson all rose by over 1%, leading the Dow components, and NVIDIA fell by 0.4%
