Meet comedian Morgan Jay, who went viral for his auto-tuned musical acts

TikTok-famous comedian and musician Morgan Jay is booked and busy for 2026. He’s taking his Goofy Guy Tour far and wide, from the US to Asia, Australia and New Zealand.\nIn Asia, shows in Taipei, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur have already sold out. His signature bit, where he invites audience members to sing into an auto-tuned microphone during his crowd work segments, often produces hilarious results. He rose to fame after clips of these interactions with fans started going viral on social media. He has nearly 5.5 million followers on Instagram at the time of writing.\nSo what else do we know about Morgan Jay?\nWhat’s his background?\n\nBorn in February 1987, Jay is from New Jersey, and has Brazilian and Italian roots. His mother hails from Brazil, while his Sicilian father, a musician, grew up in Argentina, he revealed in an interview with Ashley Parchment on her YouTube channel, It Takes a Universe. He lost his dad at a young age to cancer, after which his mother took up multiple jobs to make ends meet. Jay started playing piano at a young age, following in the footsteps of his older brother. However, he did not enjoy it.\nHe’s an actor\n\nIn high school, Jay was involved in choir and theatre, he shared on It Takes a Universe. He went on to participate in a drama programme at the New York Film Academy, and studied theatre at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts alongside Miles Teller and Ilana Glazer. He started doing stand-up comedy during his time at NYU. After graduating, he interned for Conan O’Brien during his stint on The Tonight Show, which taught him “how to be a ruthless editor of my own material”, he told Variety.\nJay spent the first five years of his comedy career in New York before moving to Los Angeles. His shows took off when he ventured into musical comedy. During the pandemic, he came up with his unique auto-tuned crowd work segments and blew up on social media.\n
