On December 29th, South Korean e-commerce company Coupang announced a user compensation plan worth KRW 1.685 trillion (approximately USD 1.18 billion) in response to a data breach incident, aimed at restoring trust. Coupang discovered the data breach in November this year, with leaked information including users' names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, and some shopping information, affecting a total of 33.7 million user accounts, all located in South Korea. Coupang stated that it plans to issue shopping vouchers worth KRW 1.685 trillion to the affected user accounts starting January 15th next year.
