The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Sun Dong, stated on a television program yesterday that a leading enterprise will establish a national manufacturing base in Yuen Long, and he hopes to announce good news soon. Regarding the Hong Kong Science Park in Heung Yuen Wai, which will open on the 22nd, Sun mentioned that the world's second-ranked new energy company, "Haitian Energy Storage," has rented 40,000 square feet of space in Heung Yuen Wai to establish R&D and pilot production facilities.

He noted that during his tenure, key enterprises such as CATL, Yunji Technology, and Horizon Robotics have been introduced. After these companies come to Hong Kong, they will first establish international headquarters and R&D centers, and then expand their international business. Whether they will set up production facilities in Hong Kong is another matter, which depends on whether Hong Kong can provide sufficient land conditions.

He mentioned that the next phase of the Heung Yuen Wai Hong Kong Science Park has received 27 expressions of interest for 10 plots of land, covering diverse proposals such as operational buildings, talent apartments, and international schools, from developers, technology companies, infrastructure, and platform companies from both Hong Kong and the mainland. The remaining 22 plots will be gradually released next year and will be flexibly adjusted according to market response
