They could be used in a whole range of settings from the battlefield, to the factory floor, in hospital surgeries or dusting away the cobwebs in your living room. Goldman Sachs estimates that the global humanoid robot market could grow from about $3 billion in 2023 to as much as $38 billion by 2035. Morgan Stanley projects even faster growth, saying the sector could reach $5 trillion by 2050, supported by sales of robots, spare parts, maintenance, and services. RBC Capital Markets forecasts a global total addressable market for humanoids of $9 trillion by 2050, with China accounting for more than 60%. So who are some of the robotic movers and shakers both in the U.S. and China? How close are they to production? <h3>U.S. </h3> Alphabet (GOOGL) Google's Gemini Robotics is partnering with Apptronik to develop humanoid robots. Apptronik is expanding its flagship robot Apollo into various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, and home applications. Standing 5'8″ tall and weighing 160 pounds, Apollo can carry up to 55 pounds of payload. Car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is piloting the robot in its manufacturing facilities. OpenAI The ChatGPT creator has reportedly been hiring researchers who specialize in using AI to control robots, especially those that are humanoid or partly humanoid. People familiar with the project say that OpenAI is training AI models that can help robots understand and move around the real world, which shows a clear interest in combining AI with physical machines. It is also a backer of Norwegian-U.S. startup 1X, which has reportedly launched pre-orders for its &#34;Neo&#34; robot, which it claims is the world's first consumer-ready humanoid robot. The machine will be able to do everyday household chores like laundry and tidying. In addition, it has a built-in bluetooth speaker in its pelvis and chest which the company describes as a &#34;mobile home entertainment system.&#34; Amazon (AMZN) Robotics now assist in roughly 75% of Amazon's global deliveries at over 300 facilities worldwide, thereby making it the largest system of industrial mobile robots in operation today. It is said to be testing Agility Robotics' bipedal robot Digit in its facilities. According to a report earlier this year in The Information, Amazon is working on software for humanoid robots to help deliver parcels to homes and businesses using its EV-powered Rivian (RIVN) vans. Amazon is said to be building a so-called humanoid park in the U.S., the size of a coffee shop to test out the robots. It consists of an indoor obstacle course to help train the robots. Tesla (TSLA) Tesla unveiled its Master Plan Part IV earlier this year. Instead of focusing on electric vehicles, the new plan highlighted AI and robotics as the primary drivers of future growth. Chief Executive Elon Musk claimed that about 80% of Tesla's long-term value will come from its Optimus humanoid robot project. </div>
