The S&P 500 Index closed down 0.1% preliminarily, with sectors such as consumer discretionary, financials, industrials, and technology falling by up to 0.3%, while the telecommunications sector rose by over 0.3% and the energy sector rose by over 0.8%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index closed down 0.2% preliminarily, with components such as Shopify falling over 2.2%, Warner Bros. Discovery, Palantir, Axon, Gilead Sciences, and Coherent falling over 1%, while Meta, Marvell Technology, Baker Hughes, Intel, and Diamondback Energy rose over 1%.
IBM and Goldman Sachs fell about 1%, leading the decline among Dow components, while Boeing, Chevron, and UnitedHealth rose at least about 0.8%
