The local stock market opened higher on the first trading day of 2026, with the Straits Times Index rising by 0.16% or 7.66 points to 4653.87.
As of 9:02 AM on Friday (January 2), the local stock market recorded a total trading volume of 81.49 million shares and a turnover of 48.5 million SGD. There were 83 gainers and 76 decliners.
Among the constituents of the index, as many as 13 stocks rose, eight fell, and nine remained unchanged.
The biggest gainer at the opening was Singapore Airlines (SIA), which rose 0.78% to 6.45 SGD; the biggest loser was Thai Beverage, which fell 1.09% to 0.455 SGD at the start.
