Entering 2026, the rotating presidency of the BRICS countries will shift from Brazil to India. As one of the founding member countries of BRICS, India will serve as the rotating presidency for the expanded BRICS for the first time, hosting the 18th BRICS Summit.

Indian Prime Minister Modi announced at the 2025 BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro in July that India has formulated key priorities for its presidency, with the core focus on rethinking the concept of BRICS to "enhance resilience, promote innovation, and achieve cooperation and development."
