Ørsted files a lawsuit against the U.S. government over the suspension of offshore wind power plans
Danish renewable energy company Ørsted stated that its U.S. joint venture is seeking an injunction to block the U.S. government's order to suspend all offshore wind project construction in the United States.
Ørsted and global infrastructure partner Skyborn Renewables each hold 50% in the $5 billion Revolution Wind joint venture. Revolution Wind has submitted a supplemental complaint to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, contesting the order. The project is located off the coasts of Rhode Island and Connecticut and utilizes wind turbines as tall as skyscrapers.
The U.S. government suspended federal leases for five East Coast projects under construction last December, primarily due to national security risks identified by the Department of Defense in a recently completed classified report
