HSBC Bank files for bankruptcy on behalf of members of the Barclays family
According to foreign media reports, HSBC has filed for bankruptcy against two senior members of the Barclay family, hoping to recover a substantial debt owed by them.
Court records show that in December last year, HSBC filed a lawsuit in the High Court in London against Aidan Barclay and Howard Barclay, concerning debts owed by the parent company of the Barclay family's brands Yodel and ArrowXL, the now-defunct Logistics Group.
The Logistics Group entered administration in March 2024, after HSBC demanded repayment of its £143.5 million secured debt, but the company was unable to repay. According to filings with the Companies Registry in October, HSBC has so far only recovered about £1.1 million of the owed amount
