"Hong Kong Stocks" The Hang Seng Index opened 155 points higher, with gold stocks, AIA, and BYD rising

U.S. stocks performed well overnight (5th), with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 594 points or 1.2%, setting a new record high. The market is focused on the new technology releases at the Consumer Electronics Show in the U.S. and the economic data to be released this week. Hong Kong stocks opened higher following the external market. The Hang Seng Index opened up 155 points or 0.6%, at 26,502 points; the National Index opened up 43 points or 0.5%, at 9,192 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index opened up 45 points or 0.8%, at 5,787 points.

In the tech sector, Tencent (00700.HK) opened up 0.4% at HKD 627, while Alibaba (09988.HK) opened down 1.2% at HKD 150.9. Meituan (03690.HK), JD.com (09618.HK), SMIC (00981.HK), Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK), and BYD Electronics (00285.HK) opened up between 0.7% and 1.1%. Baidu (09888.HK), Kuaishou (01024.HK), and NetEase (09999.HK) opened up between 1.6% and 1.7%.

Xindong (02400.HK) plans to repurchase up to HKD 400 million in shares, with its stock opening up 4%. Sunny Optical (02382.HK) is studying the spin-off of its automotive-related optical business for a listing in Hong Kong, with its stock opening up 1.6% at HKD 68.8. Goldwind (02208.HK) disclosed that its subsidiary holds approximately 4.14% of shares in Landspace, with its stock opening up 2.3%. In the automotive sector, BYD (01211.HK) and Li Auto (02015.HK) opened up 1.8% and 1.5%, respectively, XPeng (09868.HK) opened up 1.2%, while Xiaomi (01810.HK) opened down 0.3%, and Nio (09866.HK) opened down 2.6%.

In the financial sector, HSBC (00005.HK) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) opened up 1.2% and 1.1%, respectively, while AIA (01299.HK) opened up 2%. Gold prices rose nearly 3%, with China Gold International (02099.HK) and Zijin Mining (02899.HK) opening up 2.5% and 1.6%. Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining (06693.HK) forecasted a year-on-year net profit increase of at least 70% to RMB 3 billion, with its stock opening up 0.2%. Aluminum stock Hongqiao (01378.HK) opened up 3.2%.

Air China (00753.HK) is offering a discount of 6.6% to place over 1.6% of Cathay Pacific (00293.HK) shares, expecting to achieve a pre-tax profit of over RMB 180 million. Cathay Pacific opened down 0.5% at HKD 13.02. Air China opened down 0.8% at HKD 7.09
