Mazda to introduce Chinese-built electric SUV as CX-6e in Europe this summer

The Mazda CX-6e serves as the SUV counterpart to the battery-electric saloon Mazda 6e, which was introduced in Europe last year and is based on the Chinese-market Mazda EZ-6. Both models are built on Changan’s EPA platform, which also underpins the Deepal S07. In China, the EZ-60—the equivalent of the CX-6e unveiled by Mazda at the Brussels Motor Show for the European market—launched last September with prices starting from 119,990 yuan (currently around €14,700).However, those expecting the electric SUV to be available in Europe at similarly low prices may be disappointed: “The new Mazda CX-6e will arrive at German Mazda dealerships from summer 2026, starting at €49,990,” the company announced in its German press release. Importing the vehicle from China—where it is also produced for the European market—and the high EU tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles are significant cost drivers. Conversely, Mazda is likely aligning its pricing with other models in the European market: for example, the battery-electric saloon Mazda 6e starts at €44,990.Now, for the vehicle itself: The CX-6e measures 4.85 metres in length, 1.94 metres in width, and 1.62 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 2.90 metres. Its 468-litre boot can be expanded to 1,434 litres by folding the second row of seats. Under the front bonnet, there is an additional practical storage compartment with a capacity of 83 litres, which is also suitable for storing a charging cable.78 kWh battery, 190 kW rear motorA 78 kWh (LFP) battery powers the electric motor on the rear axle. This motor delivers 190 kW and 290 Nm of torque, matching the specifications of the China-market EZ-60.The range figures are particularly noteworthy: while Changan Mazda quoted an optimistic 600 kilometres under the CLTC test cycle, the preliminary WLTP range is 484 kilometres. The DC fast-charging capability peaks at 195 kW, enabling the battery to be charged from 10 to 80% in 24 minutes. For home wallbox or public AC charging, the vehicle is equipped with an 11 kW on-board charger. Three driving modes allow drivers to adjust acceleration characteristics, regenerative braking, and steering assistance to their preferences.Ultra-wide touchscreen and extensive driver assistance systemsThe interior features a cockpit dominated by an ultra-wide 26.45-inch touchscreen with a 32:9 aspect ratio, providing personalised information for both the driver and front passenger. Additionally, a head-up display projects navigation instructions and other key details directly into the driver’s line of sight.The electric SUV comes standard with a suite of driver assistance systems, including Smart Brake Support, Lane-Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. Every model is equipped with nine airbags, as well as a network of high-resolution cameras, millimetre-wave radar, and ultrasonic sensors to enhance visibility and awareness.
