According to reports, Maersk has safely navigated another cargo ship through the southern waters of the Red Sea and will gradually resume passage
According to a report by Bloomberg, global shipping giant Maersk successfully navigated a cargo ship flying the American flag through the southern waters of the Red Sea, marking the company's second successful passage since most shipping companies began avoiding the area two years ago. The group stated that, given the apparent improvement in the security situation, the company will continue to gradually restore passage.
The report indicated that this voyage marks another step towards normalizing the global supply chain after the Houthi armed group in Yemen began attacking ships in 2023, forcing shipowners to reroute around southern Africa. However, this move is expected to put pressure on shipping industry profit margins, as Maersk and other container shipping companies had previously benefited from the increased transit time required for the detours, during which global shipping capacity decreased by 7 to 8%
