Powell's testimony to Congress becomes the focus of a high-risk investigation by the Department of Justice
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has made it very clear to Capitol Hill that the Fed's renovation project does not include luxury upgrades such as beehives, rooftop gardens, or high-end marble. There are no new fountains, nor high-end marble. No dedicated elevators, and no VIP dining rooms. Powell's testimony has now become the focus of a criminal investigation, with critics suggesting he may have lied about project costs and luxury upgrades. Prior to the initiation of this investigation, President Trump had criticized him for months, accusing Powell of poor performance regarding cost overruns and interest rates, but no charges have been brought against Powell as of now.
