Geopolitical risks continue to cast a shadow over market sentiment, with the three major U.S. stock indices declining for the second consecutive trading day.
As of Wednesday (January 13), the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.09%, the S&amp;P 500 index dropped by 0.53%, and the Nasdaq index, which reflects the performance of technology stocks, decreased by 1%.
In the local stock market, the FTSE Straits Times Index initially fell before rising, ultimately closing up 5.38 points or 0.11%, reporting at 4812.51 points.

<li>Samudera Shipping Line announced before the market opened that it would increase its stake in Samudera Property Limited (referred to as SPL). SPL has issued and allocated 39,990 ordinary shares to the company at a price of 100 dirhams per share, totaling 3.99 million dirhams (approximately 1.4 million Singapore dollars).</li>

Samudera revealed that the consideration has been paid using part of the loan amount previously provided to SPL to finance its acquisition of two office locations in Dubai in 2018.
After the completion of the share subscription, SPL's issued capital will increase to 4 million dirhams, while Samudera's shareholding ratio remains unchanged at 100%. Samudera's stock price closed at 1.15 Singapore dollars on Wednesday, down 1.71%.

<li>First Sponsor Group issued a profit warning, stating that after preliminary review, the group expects to record a net loss in the second half and for the full year of 2025. This is mainly due to the strengthening of foreign currency exchange rates against the Singapore dollar, resulting in fair value losses on financial derivatives and net foreign exchange losses.</li>

The company pointed out that most of its asset investments are overseas and not denominated in Singapore dollars. To safeguard shareholders' funds, it has hedged against foreign exchange risks, primarily targeting the euro, renminbi, and Australian dollar. Although a net loss is expected for the fiscal year 2025, as of the end of December 2025, the group's overall business and financial condition remains robust, with a net debt ratio of 0.56 times. First Sponsor Group's stock price closed flat at 1.01 Singapore dollars.
