Shawn Mendes is seemingly starting the new year hand in hand with a new bae. The “Stitches” singer, 27, who is rumoured to be dating Brazilian model and actress Bruna Marquezine, was spotted enjoying a hiking date with the 30-year-old in Los Angeles over the weekend, reports Just Jared.\nThe pair haven’t tried to hide their apparent new romance since being linked in December. They enjoyed New Year’s celebrations at Alagoas, per Hola! magazine, and were seen out and about in LA, fetching groceries together just last week.\n\nMendes, who previously dated Camila Cabello and sparked romance rumours with Sabrina Carpenter, told fans during one of his For Friends and Family Tour concerts that he was “figuring out” his sexuality. Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Marquezine once dated football star Neymar.\nSo, what else do we know about Bruna Marquezine?\nShe was a child actress\n\nMarquezine hails from Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, where she was born to Neide Maia and Telmo Reis. She started acting at a young age, attending auditions with her mother, per Flaunt magazine. At five years old, she was already doing commercials. It didn’t take her long to transition to TV roles. By age seven, Marquezine was appearing in soap operas. A year later, she made her silver screen debut with Xuxa Abracadabra (2003).\n“I know it’s kind of weird to think that a five-year-old would know that she wanted to act, but that’s how I felt at the time. I loved that I had responsibilities and would often be treated as a professional, as an adult,” Marquezine recalled to Elle.\nWhere have you seen her before?\n\nMarquezine is best known for telenovelas like Mulheres Apaixonadas, Negócio da China and Cobras e Lagartos. She ventured into Hollywood by trying out for the role of Supergirl in DC’s The Flash, per Flaunt. While she did not get the part, she was later asked to audition for Blue Beetle (2023) and was cast as Jenny Kord. “I’ve always wanted my work to allow me to work outside of my country,” she told Elle, adding, “I hope that for my work, and for my art, there are no limits.”\nShe has other talents, too\n\nBesides acting, Marquezine is also a director and producer. She co-directed and executive-produced the series Benefits with Friends, in which she also appears.\nShe is also a dancer and participated in the 10th season of the reality show Dança dos Famosos – a sort of Brazilian Dancing with the Stars – where she was a runner-up.\nLast but not least, she is also a model and walked for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week in 2018.
