The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear Bayer AG's appeal. The company aims to challenge thousands of lawsuits alleging that its Roundup herbicide causes cancer.

Bayer executives hope that the Supreme Court's ruling will help overturn thousands of cases that include failure-to-warn claims, which the company believes are preempted by federal law. Currently, Bayer still faces claims from approximately 67,000 plaintiffs who allege that long-term exposure to the main ingredient in Roundup, glyphosate, has caused them to develop cancer, while Bayer insists that the herbicide is safe.
