KOSTT takes over land in Kosovo* for battery system in US-funded project

KOSTT, the Transmission, System and Market Operator of Kosovo, has signed a contract to acquire 2.3 hectares of land in Ferizaj for a 45 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) funded by the US through the Millennium Challenge Compact. This project aims to enhance energy security and reduce costs by storing surplus energy for later use. The total investment for the BESS project is USD 236.7 million, with the Government of Kosovo contributing USD 34.7 million. A second phase of the project will involve a larger 125 MW system in Peja, estimated at USD 180 million.
