<div id="readability-page-1"><div>By Kirk Maltais Export inspections of U.S. corn and soybean shipments are down from the previous week, according to data from the Department of Agriculture. In its latest weekly report, the USDA said that corn export inspections for the week ended Jan. 15 was 1.48 million metric tons, which is slightly off from 1.5 million tons at this time last week. Soybean inspections also fell, totaling 1.34 million tons this week versus 1.59 million tons the prior week. Corn inspections came in below the total of this time last year, which was 1.54 million tons. But this week's soybean figure was more than seen at this time last year, coming in at 989,489 tons. Wheat inspections this week totaled 392,611 tons, which is higher than both this time last week and last year. China was the leading destination for U.S. soybeans, according to the USDA--with 611,983 tons destined for China. This confirmation comes on the heels of China's reported completion of its promise to buy 12 million tons of soybeans from U.S. exporters. Mexico was the top destination for both U.S. corn and wheat. CBOT grain futures are lower in morning trade, with most-active corn futures down 0.4%, soybeans down 0.1%, and wheat down 1.5%.
