French Crypto Tax Platform Waltio Faces Ransom Demand After Data Breach
French cryptocurrency tax platform Waltio has been targeted by a hacker group known as 'Shiny Hunters,' according to a report by Le Parisien. According to PANews, the hackers claim to have obtained personal data of approximately 50,000 customers, primarily based in France, and are demanding a ransom. Waltio, which provides portfolio tracking and tax calculation services for cryptocurrency holders, has reported the incident to the police as an attempt to extort and disrupt its automated data processing systems. The report indicates that the hackers allegedly accessed customer emails and account balance information as early as 2024.
