Offshore RMB rises above 6.95 yuan, reaching a new high since May 2023

On Friday (January 23), at the New York close (Saturday, Beijing time 05:59), the offshore renminbi (CNH) against the US dollar was reported at 6.9494 yuan, an increase of 149 points compared to Thursday's New York close, with overall trading during the day in the range of 6.9669-6.9483 yuan. On that day, the offshore renminbi rose above 6.95 yuan again since January 20, significantly surging at 09:15, and then gradually retracing its gains. After 00:00, it expanded its gains again and reached a new intraday high since May 11, 2023 (with the day's peak at 6.9309 yuan) just before the end of the trading day, approaching the peak of 6.7898 yuan on February 10 of that year and the peak of 6.6975 yuan on January 16. This week, the offshore renminbi has accumulated an increase of approximately 190 points, a rise of 0.27%
