Foreign media: Bessant hints that US-India tariffs may be eased.
According to Politico, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessenter hinted in Davos on Friday that the U.S. might remove the additional tariffs imposed on India, which have led to a significant drop in Indian purchases of Russian oil, calling it a "huge success." Bessenter told Politico that Indian refineries' purchases of Russian oil had "collapsed" due to the U.S. tariffs. He suggested that while the tariffs are currently in effect, there is a diplomatic "pathway" to their removal if India shifts its energy sources, and asserted that these trade measures have brought substantial benefits to the U.S. economy.
