The Commissioner of Police, Zhou Yiming, stated today (29th) at an event that in recent years, fraud cases have become a mainstream crime, with approximately 2,500 tertiary students falling victim last year, resulting in total losses exceeding 300 million HKD. He emphasized that the work of preventing fraud among teenagers is urgent, and the police hope to design more effective anti-fraud strategies through scientific and data-driven methods.

He mentioned that fraud cases not only cause financial losses to the victimized teenagers but also lead to psychological trauma, affecting their growth, learning, and family relationships. There have even been victims who resorted to self-harm as a result. Zhou Yiming added that the police, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Youth Association, launched the "Youth Anti-Fraud Platform," bringing together law enforcement agencies, social welfare organizations, financial and payment institutions, to educate and support teenagers
