The Housing Authority announced the latest data, estimating that by the end of December 2025, the potential supply of first-hand private residential units in Hong Kong over the next three to four years will be 104,000 units, an increase of about 2,000 units quarter-on-quarter. This includes approximately 61,000 unsold units under construction, 23,000 completed units, and about 20,000 units on land that has been approved for immediate construction. It is estimated that 92,000 units will have a usable area of less than 70 square meters, accounting for 88%. In addition, the authority also expects that in the coming months, 11 residential land plots will be converted to developable land, providing about 7,900 units.

According to statistics, the number of unsold units and completed units has declined for five consecutive quarters, reaching a nearly three-year low. A spokesperson for the Housing Authority stated that with the government's continued orderly increase in housing land supply, it is believed that the supply of private residential units will remain at a high level in the coming years.

As for the construction volume in the fourth quarter of last year, it increased by 1,100 units or 1.4 times quarter-on-quarter, reaching 1,900 units; the completion volume increased by 1,800 units or 54.5%, to 5,100 units. However, the cumulative construction volume last year fell by 55.8% year-on-year to 8,800 units, the lowest since 2009; the completion volume was 18,400 units, down 24.3% year-on-year, which is about 2,462 units or approximately 11.8% lower than the government's forecast of about 20,900 units
