The S&P 500 Index preliminarily closed up 0.5%, with the consumer staples, industrial, and financial sectors rising at least about 1%, the technology sector up 0.4%, and the real estate, utilities, and energy sectors down by as much as 1.9%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index preliminarily closed up 0.7%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 525 points for a gain of 1.1%, the semiconductor index, biotechnology index, and banking index all rose over 1%, and small-cap stocks also rose by about 1%
