The S&P 500 index closed down 0.5% preliminarily, with the technology sector down 1.8%, the telecommunications sector down 1.7%, and the consumer discretionary sector down 1.2%. The healthcare, real estate, and materials sectors rose over 1%, while the energy sector rose 2.2%.
The Nasdaq 100 index closed down 1.7% preliminarily. Among the constituents, AMD closed down 16.6% preliminarily, Applovin down 16%, Palantir down 11.6%, Micron Technology, Western Digital, nuclear power stock CEG, Applied Materials, and Seagate Technology all down at least 6%. Diamondback Energy rose 3.6%, and Amgen rose 8%.
