Singtel’s Nxera opens data center in Singapore, accelerating AI innovations

Nxera, Singtel Group’s regional data center arm, announced Monday the opening of DC Tuas, its largest, next-generation, most energy efficient and multi-tenanted data center. This expands Nxera’s capacity in Singapore to meet accelerating demand for AI, cloud and high-performance computing workloads from enterprises and hyperscalers, Singtel said in a statement. With 58MW of AI-ready capacity, DC Tuas is Singapore’s highest power-density data center and increases Nxera’s total data center capacity in the country to 120MW. More than 90 percent of its capacity was committed to customers even before the launch. DC Tuas supports the higher rack densities required by next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. As a carrier-neutral, multi-tenanted data center, DC Tuas hosts Singapore’s largest direct-to-chip liquid cooling deployment, enabling customers to deploy the new generation of AI infrastructure efficiently and at scale. This advanced cooling capability enhances heat extraction while reducing energy and water consumption compared to conventional cooling methods. “The opening of our new AI-ready data center, DC Tuas, is an important milestone for Nxera as we expand our role in enabling AI innovations in Singapore, “The ability to deploy higher-density, compute-intensive AI workloads sustainably, is increasingly critical for a strategic market where data center capacity is constrained,” said Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer of Nxera and Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit. “As Singapore’s highest power density, most energy efficient and largest liquid-cooled multi-tenanted data center, DC Tuas reinforces the country’s position as a global AI hub and supports accelerating AI adoption, “It also demonstrates our expertise in delivering next-generation digital infrastructure and our abilities with Nxera in attracting and developing an exciting and diverse AI ecosystem for Singapore,” he added. It is noted that DC Tuas further enhances Singtel Digital InfraCo’s end-to-end digital infrastructure platform, which spans connectivity, subsea cables and data centres across Asia Pacific. The 120,000-square-foot, eight-storey facility is Singapore’s only hyperconnected data center integrated with a cable landing station, providing direct access to both international and domestic networks. This enables DC Tuas to deliver lower latency, enhanced reliability and stronger network performance, while offering carrier neutrality for customers to support their mission-critical and latency-sensitive workloads at scale. According to the statement, sustainability is integral to DC Tuas’ operations. The facility meets the highest Green Mark Platinum standard awarded by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority and Infocomm Media Development Authority. DC Tuas also incorporates smart thermal features, high-efficiency electrical systems and direct-to-chip liquid cooling to optimize performance in Singapore’s tropical climate. To further improve its environmental performance, the data center also leverages solar power alongside rainwater harvesting, condensate reuse and blowdown recovery. With a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25, being the most energy efficient multi-tenanted facility in Singapore and this tropical region, DC Tuas reflects Nxera’s focus on delivering energy-efficient and resilient AI ready data centers. With DC Tuas now operational, Nxera said it continues to expand its data center footprint across Asia, with additional AI-ready capacity coming onstream in Batam and Johor in the second half of 2026. Nxera’s operational and pipeline capacity is expected to more than double from 200MW in 2026 to over 400MW in the mid-term. These developments reinforce Nxera’s role in advancing sustainable, AI-ready digital infrastructure to meet Singapore’s evolving digital needs and support the region’s continued growth, said the statement.
