Starlink Doubles Subscriber Count in Less Than a Year, Hits 10 Million Users

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service has crossed the 10 million subscriber mark. The milestone comes amid a stretch of record-breaking growth, with Starlink adding millions of new users in rapid succession as its global coverage expands and more customers turn to the service as an alternative to traditional internet providers. The new figure highlights how quickly Starlink is scaling. Just over a year ago, the service had roughly 5 million customers. Now, according to an image of a gift given to employees to celebrate the milestone, there are 10 million Starlink subscribers globally. More recently, Starlink’s growth has shifted into overdrive. The company crossed the 8 million subscriber mark in November 2025, followed by 9 million in late December 2025. Now, with 10 million customers connected, Starlink is adding users faster than at any point in its history. At its current pace, the company is onboarding more than 20,000 new customers per day. Unlike traditional internet providers, Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network allows it to deliver high-speed internet virtually anywhere with a clear view of the sky. That capability has made it particularly valuable in remote regions where fiber and cable deployment is impractical or cost-prohibitive. Canada continues to be one of Starlink’s strongest markets. The service has seen widespread adoption in rural and northern regions, where it provides speeds and reliability far beyond what was previously available. Even as some provincial and federal broadband programs prioritize fiber expansion, many Canadians continue turning to Starlink as the fastest way to get online. Starlink’s growth is also being fueled by expansion beyond residential customers. The service is now widely used on aircraft, ships, RVs, and emergency response vehicles. Airlines are increasingly adopting Starlink for in-flight Wi-Fi, while maritime operators are using it to improve connectivity at sea. These new use cases are helping drive subscriber growth while diversifying Starlink’s revenue streams.
