Immigration Department: Last year handled 335 million entries and exits, with mainland visitors increasing by 11% year-on-year

The Director of Immigration, Eric Wu, stated at a press conference that last year, approximately 335 million travelers were provided with entry and exit services, representing an annual increase of about 12%, reaching a record high. During this period, the total number of inbound visitors to Hong Kong was about 50 million, an annual increase of about 12%. Among them, mainland visitors accounted for approximately 38 million, an annual increase of about 11%; other visitors numbered about 12 million, an annual increase of about 15%.

Among the inbound travelers, approximately 11 million entered Hong Kong via the airport, about 37 million through land control points, and around 1.8 million by sea.

Eric Wu also indicated that during the Lunar New Year holiday period, it is expected that over 9.5 million people will enter and exit Hong Kong through various land border control points, and each control point will be quite busy, with Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, and Shenzhen Bay control points being the busiest land control points. The Immigration Department urges travelers going to and from the mainland to "travel during off-peak hours" and to avoid crossing during busy periods
