Joby Aviation (JOBY.US), the aerial taxi manufacturer, has its largest shareholder Toyota Motor (TM.US) currently dispatching a team of nearly 200 employees to assist Joby in troubleshooting production issues, supplying key components, providing training recommendations, and offering assembly line technical support.

Sandy Lobenstein, Vice President of Toyota's Flying Mobility Group, stated that the related work includes implementing lean manufacturing concepts known as the "Toyota Production System," helping to improve lead times before production and driving scalability.

Toyota began providing funding to Joby as early as 2020, and is currently considering establishing a deeper strategic manufacturing alliance to further strengthen the partnership before Joby plans to scale up production. Joby stated that once its facilities in California and Ohio are fully completed, the company's goal is to produce up to 500 aircraft annually
