After a record-setting 2025, the Swedish-based, Chinese-owned car maker wants to take the world by storm, launching four new cars in the span of just three years.</p><p>One of these models, however, could be a big surprise. This year, the Polestar 4, which is the company’s best-seller, will get a new variant that could end up looking like a wagon with off-road looks. Already by the end of this year, we will launch a new variant of Polestar 4, based on the same great technology,” said Michael Lohscheller, Polestar’s CEO, ahead of the company’s strategy update call later today. “With this car, Polestar will once again set new standards. Sweden is famous for its estate cars, and its SUVs are world-class. We are combining the space of an estate and the versatility of an SUV with the dynamic performance that is Polestar.”</p><p>As a Swedish-made wagon owner myself, I’d love to see an electric family hauler from a brand like Polestar, which is known for its great handling cars, but there’s no denying that this type of car is pretty much dead in the United States. Volkswagen has had success with the ID.7 Tourer in Europe, and Polestar might target the same audience with this new model.</p><p>That being said, the Swedish car maker didn’t unequivocally say its upcoming EV will be a wagon. Instead, it left some room for interpretation, so there’s still a chance we might end up with yet another sporty crossover on stilts with black cladding around the wheel arches. Polestar also didn’t mention if its wagon-like EV will make it to the United States.</p><div><div id="ads_6122441_EV_ev_us_Rectangle_rectangle_1_1771415385"></div></div><p>But there’s still hope. In the teaser images published today, the car has a rear windshield and a pair of longitudinal roof bars can be seen through the translucent cover. As a reminder, the regular Polestar 4 doesn't have a rear window at all, and instead it relies on a video camera that shows a live view on the digital rearview mirror. Meanwhile, European deliveries of the Polestar 5 four-door grand tourer halo EV will begin this summer. Next year, a new generation of the Polestar 2 entry-level sedan will debut, followed by the Polestar 7 compact SUV in 2028.</p><p>Last year, the Swedish-based brand sold a record 60,119 cars globally, up 34% compared to 2024. This year, the company is aiming for a low double-digit increase in volume and a 30% expansion in its dealer network.</p><div><div id="ads_6122441_EV_ev_us_Rectangle_rectangle_2_1771415385"></div></div><p>“Following our best sales year ever, we are now launching the largest model offensive in our history, with four premium EVs coming to market within three years,” said Lohscheller. “We are targeting the heart of the EV market, where customer demand and profit pools are high.
