The market is watching to see if the U.S. Supreme Court will issue a ruling on the tariff case. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 267 points or 0.5% the previous night (19th). Hong Kong stocks resumed trading after the Spring Festival holiday, opening lower on the first trading day of the Year of the Horse. The Hang Seng Index opened down 48 points or 0.2%, at 26,657 points; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index opened down 17 points or 0.2%, at 9,052 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index opened down 36 points or 0.7%, at 5,330 points.

In the oil sector, CNOOC (00883.HK) opened up 2.2%, and in the energy transportation sector, COSCO SHIPPING Energy (01138.HK) opened up 6.1%. Commodity stocks rose, with CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) opening up 2.7%, China Molybdenum (01208.HK) and Jiangxi Copper (03993.HK) opening up 2.3% and 2%, respectively, and Hongqiao (01378.HK) opening up 1.6%.

In the technology sector, Alibaba-W (09988.HK) and Baidu-SW (09888.HK) each opened down 3%, Tencent (00700.HK) and Kuaishou-W (01024.HK) opened down 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively. Meituan-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and NetEase-S (09999.HK) opened down 0.7% to 1.1%, while Bilibili-W (09626.HK) and Kingdee (00268.HK) opened down 3.8% and 3.2%. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong (01347.HK) opened flat, at 69.9 yuan and 99.9 yuan, respectively. In the mobile component sector, Sunny Optical (02382.HK) opened down 1.3%. In the automotive sector, BYD (01211.HK) opened down 0.2%, Xiaomi-W (01810.HK) opened flat at 36.66 yuan, and Li Auto-W (02015.HK) opened down 1%.

In the financial sector, HSBC (00005.HK) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) opened up 0.6% and 0.3%, respectively, while AIA (01299.HK) opened flat at 82.35 yuan. Other stocks included Wharf Real Estate (01997.HK) opening down 2.6%, Sun Hung Kai Properties (01109.HK) opening up 3.1%, and China National Pharmaceutical Group (01099.HK) opening down 4%
