Under the banner of "Big Banks," the forecast for February's gaming revenue in Macau has been revised down to 20 billion Macanese Patacas
Citigroup published a research report indicating that Macau's gaming revenue for the first fifteen days of February may reach approximately MOP 8.8 billion, meaning that the average daily gaming revenue for the previous Sunday was about MOP 543 million, which is about 26% lower than the average daily gaming revenue of approximately MOP 730 million in January, and also about 13% lower than the average daily gaming revenue of approximately MOP 625 million for the first eight days of last February.
Citigroup believes that the slowdown in average daily gaming revenue may be due to seasonal factors before the Lunar New Year and the low win rate in VIP rooms. The bank cited industry data indicating that the betting volume in VIP rooms fell by about 18% to 20% month-on-month, while mass gaming revenue decreased by about 15% to 17% month-on-month, reflecting a low win rate in VIP rooms. Citigroup has currently revised its forecast for February's gaming revenue from MOP 20.5 billion to MOP 20 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of about 1%, which means that the average daily gaming revenue for the remaining days of this month needs to reach approximately MOP 862 million. The bank's forecast for the combined gaming revenue for January and February is MOP 42.6 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 12.2%
