SWIFT: Last month, the global payment share of the Renminbi was 3.13%, ranking fifth
The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) released its monthly report and data statistics on the renminbi, showing that in January 2026, the renminbi ranked fifth in the global payment currency ranking based on amount, with a share of 3.13%, rising one position from the previous month.
Compared to December 2025, the total payment amount in renminbi increased by 11.44%, while the total payment amount in all currencies decreased by 2.68%.
If we consider international payments outside the Eurozone as the statistical basis, in January 2026, the renminbi ranked sixth, with a share of 2.42%
