The largest aircraft carrier of the United States enters the Mediterranean Sea
On February 20, the United States' largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, and a guided-missile destroyer appeared near Gibraltar. Reports indicate that the USS Ford has passed through the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. The White House had previously ordered the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East. The USS Ford and its escort vessels were dispatched from the Caribbean region to the Middle East and will join the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group located in the Persian Gulf. The last time the U.S. deployed a "dual-carrier" presence in the Middle East was in April of last year. (CCTV International News)
