U.S. tech stocks performed well overnight (25th), with the Nasdaq rising 1.3% and the Dow Jones increasing by 307 points or 0.6%. Hong Kong stock index futures opened higher on settlement day. The Hang Seng Index opened up 254 points or 0.95%, at 27,019 points; the National Index opened up 44 points or 0.5%, at 9,078 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index opened up 24 points or 0.5%, at 5,284 points.

Cheung Kong Infrastructure (01038.HK) led a consortium to sell the UK power distribution company UKPN, with an enterprise value estimated at HKD 176.8 billion, and its stock opened up 1.4%. CK Hutchison (00001.HK) and Power Assets (00006.HK) opened up 2.4% and 1.1%, respectively, while Cheung Kong (01113.HK) opened up 2.2%. HSBC Holdings (00005.HK) rose 7.9% in London after announcing its earnings, 3.6% higher than its closing price in Hong Kong, with the stock rising over 5% yesterday and opening up 2.9% this morning at HKD 146.8.

In the tech sector, Baidu (09888.HK) announced its quarterly results after the market closed, and its stock opened up 0.8% at HKD 129.9. Tencent (00700.HK) opened up 1.2% at HKD 529, Alibaba (09988.HK) opened flat at HKD 148.3, JD.com (09618.HK) and Kuaishou (01024.HK) opened up 0.5% and 1%, respectively, while Meituan (03690.HK) opened flat at HKD 82.7. NetEase (09999.HK) opened down 1.9%. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK) opened up 1.1% and 1%, respectively. In the AI sector, Zhizhu (02513.HK) and MiniMax (00100.HK) opened up 3.6% and 3.4%, respectively, with MiniMax's Agent Expert feature upgraded, simultaneously launching MaxClaw.

In the automotive sector, BYD (01211.HK), Xiaomi (01810.HK), Nio (09866.HK), and XPeng (09868.HK) opened up 0.4% to 0.9%, while Li Auto (02015.HK) opened down 1.2%. Travel platform Trip.com (09961.HK) reported a 95% increase in net profit last year, and its stock opened flat at HKD 413.8. Conch Cement (00914.HK) recorded a large block trade before the market opened, involving over 77 million shares at a price of HKD 25.7 per share, totaling HKD 2 billion. The stock opened down 3.7% at HKD 25.7.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) opened up 0.9%, AIA (01299.HK) opened up 3%. Financial Secretary Paul Chan stated yesterday that the Insurance Authority will optimize the risk-based capital regime for insurance companies, adjusting the risk parameters for general insurance business and lowering capital requirements for infrastructure investments.
