The Hang Seng Index opened up 334 points, initially rising 487 points to a high of 25,736 points, but later fell 12 points to a low of 25,236 points in the afternoon, closing up 71 points or 0.3% at 25,321 points; the National Index fell 32 points or 0.4% to close at 8,451 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 33 points or 0.7% to 4,796 points. The total market turnover for the day was HKD 321.872 billion.

Financial stocks rose, with HSBC Holdings (00005.HK) and Standard Chartered (02888.HK) up 2.4% and 2%, respectively, and AIA (01299.HK) rising 5.1% to close at HKD 85.1. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) increased by 0.6%. Local property stocks New World Development (00016.HK) and Wharf Real Estate Investment Company (01997.HK) rose 2.4% and 3.6%, respectively. Composite enterprise stocks Longfor Group (00001.HK), Swire Properties (00019.HK), and CITIC Limited (00267.HK) increased by 2.2% to 3%.

Several commodity stocks fell, with Shandong Gold (01787.HK), Zhaojin Mining (01818.HK), China Gold International (02099.HK), Zijin Mining (02259.HK), and Zijin (02899.HK) dropping over 2%. Luoyang Molybdenum (03993.HK) and China Minmetals (01208.HK) fell 3.6% and 6%, respectively. In the oil sector, PetroChina (00857.HK) rose 1.4%, Sinopec (00386.HK) fell 2.1%, and oil equipment stock Shandong Molong (00568.HK) plummeted 15.3%, with a turnover exceeding HKD 5.6 billion. Gold retail stocks Lao Pu Gold (06181.HK) and Luk Fook (00590.HK) fell 3.8% and 3%, respectively.

The energy transition concept gained traction, with Weichai Power (02338.HK) and XianDai Intelligent (00470.HK) rising 5.4% and 6.1%, respectively. Power equipment stocks Harbin Electric (01133.HK) and Dongfang Electric (01072.HK) increased by 10% and 17.6%. Power stocks Datang International Power Generation (00991.HK) rose 4%, while Huaneng Power International (00902.HK) and Huadian Power International (01071.HK) increased by 2.5%. New energy stocks Longyuan Power (00916.HK), Xinyi Solar (00968.HK), and China General Nuclear Power (01816.HK) rose over 2%, with Goldwind Technology (02208.HK) up 4.4%.

Pharmaceutical stocks performed well, with China National Pharmaceutical Group (01177.HK), Heng Rui Medicine (01276.HK), Junshi Biosciences (01877.HK), WuXi AppTec (02268.HK), and Kanglong Chemical (03759.HK) rising between 2.9% and 3.6%. Kelun-Biotech (06990.HK), Kangfang Biotech (09926.HK), and Rongchang (09995.HK) increased by 6.3% to 7%. In the automotive sector, BYD (01211.HK) fell 2.6%, Xiaomi (01810.HK) rose 0.6%, while Nio (09866.HK) and XPeng (09868.HK) increased by 2.9% and 2.4%, respectively. Intelligent driving stock WeRide (00800.HK) rose 6.1% In the technology sector, Tencent (00700.HK), Meituan (03690.HK), JD.com (09618.HK), and NetEase (09999.HK) fell by 0.8% to 1.2%, while Alibaba (09988.HK) dropped by 2%. Kuaishou (01024.HK) rose by 0.1%, and Baidu (09888.HK) and Bilibili (09626.HK) increased by 0.8% and 1.2%, respectively. Additionally, Yuanwen (00772.HK) and Kingsoft Cloud (03896.HK) rose by over 3%, while JD Health (06618.HK) fell by 6.2%. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong (01347.HK) rose by 0.4% and 1.2%, while Tensilica (09903.HK) and Innolight (02577.HK) increased by 5.4% and 6.3%. Chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) rose by 4.1%.

It is rumored that Lenovo (00992.HK) has issued a price increase notice, with some computers increasing by over 1,000 yuan, and its stock price fell by 0.2%. Robotics stocks Yujian (02432.HK) and SUTENG (02498.HK) rose by 7.8% and 4.2%. AI stocks Zhipu (02513.HK) rose by 2%, while Envision (03696.HK) and MiniMax (00100.HK) increased by 8.6% and 8.8%.
