The team led by Pan Jianwei from the University of Science and Technology of China has made significant progress in the development of optical clocks. Their strontium atomic optical lattice clock has achieved stability and uncertainty levels that both exceed 10^{-19}, with an error of no more than 1 second over 30 billion years, meeting the requirements for the redefinition of the second in the International System of Units. This achievement marks China's attainment of an internationally leading level in the field of precise time measurement. The related results were published on March 5 in the international metrology journal "Metrologia." (CCTV News)
