<div id="readability-page-1"><div><div>                                                                                                                                                <p>Technology giant Amazon (AMZN) says that its website and e-commerce shopping app were down for several hours due to a “software code” issue.</p><p>The Seattle-based company said consumers were unable to check out, access account information, or view product prices on its e-commerce site over the last 24 hours.</p><p>Amazon confirmed that more than 22,000 users reported issues with its e-commerce site on March 5. </p><p>The issues have now largely been resolved and Amazon said the incident was due to “a software code deployment.”</p><p>The latest incident occurs as Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company’s cloud computing unit, has dealt with outages after drone strikes damaged three of its data centres in the Middle East this week.</p><p>Media reports say that Amazon’s data centres were targeted by Iran because of the company’s support of U.S. military and intelligence activities.</p><p>Amazon said in a statement that its cloud services are functioning normally right now.</p><p>AMZN stock has risen 9% over the last 12 months to trade at $218.94 U.S. per share.</p></div></div></div>
