Meta Platforms Inc. announced plans to deploy four generations of new self-developed artificial intelligence (AI) chips by the end of 2027 to support its rapidly expanding AI workloads. These new chips—MTIA 300, MTIA 400, MTIA 450, and MTIA 500—are part of its strategy to diversify hardware sources, aiming to reduce reliance on external chip manufacturers and lower costs. Meta will continue to procure chips from companies like NVIDIA and AMD, adhering to a dual-track approach of "sourcing traditional hardware" and "investing in custom silicon."
