RTL Group Posts 3.8% Results Drop as Streaming Side Grows And Fremantle Revenues Suffer

RTL Group reported a 3.8% revenue drop to €6.018 billion for FY 2024, despite growth in streaming and digital advertising. Adjusted EBITDA was €661 million, with total profit at €1.03 billion, boosted by the sale of RTL Nederland. Streaming revenue surged 26.3% to €509 million, driven by subscriber growth and price increases. However, Fremantle's revenue fell 9.4% to €2.043 billion, impacted by lower U.S. entertainment revenue. CEO Thomas Rabe noted a challenging market with declining TV advertising and a shift to streaming, prompting a resource reallocation towards streaming and cost reductions.
